When are candidate questionnaires due and where do I submit it?

As of October 13th, we are not accepting candidate questionnaires at this time. Our next meeting will be after the November 8th election.

Who can vote on club endorsements?

Members of the Long Beach Democratic Club who have paid their annual dues and attended at least three meetings over the past year may vote. Attendance at the January Fundraiser counts as two meetings. If you have questions regarding your eligibility, you may email your questions to [email protected].

How will voting take place?

Members in good standing will receive a physical ballot to submit, and a member of the executive board will check your credentials as a voting member.

Are proxy votes allowed?

Given the short notice and lack of direction in our bylaws, we will not allow for proxy voting except in specific cases to accommodate disabilities or the immunocompromised. Note, the Long Beach Professional Firefighters Hall is accessible to disabled individuals.

This, as well as a number of other issues have been noted by our board and will be part of a larger discussion regarding changes to our bylaws which will be discussed before the end of 2022.

If you have any questions or require a reasonable accommodation due to a disability or compromised immunity, please email the [email protected].

Will there be a consent slate?

If only one Democrat has submitted a questionnaire for a race, we will offer a vote of affirmation for the candidate to automatically receive the endorsement at the end of the forum on March 23rd. A member in good standing with the club (paid dues and having attended three meetings) has the ability to pull the affirmation vote, in which case the candidate will be included on the ballot the following day and must reach the 60% threshold.
